STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1932. No. 3.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE GALWAY (INCREASE OF GRANT) ORDER, 1932.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the University College Galway Act, 1929 (No. 35 of 1929), that there shall be paid to University College, Galway, out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas, the sum of twenty-eight thousand pounds in the financial year beginning on the 1st day of April, 1930, and in every subsequent financial year :

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (2) of the said section that towards meeting further the cost of such measures as the College may after the passing of the said Act take with a view to increasing the proportion of instruction given through the medium of the Irish language, or making better provision for the study of the Irish language and literature, the Minister for Finance may, if and when he so thinks fit, by order made on the recommendation of the Minister for Education increase the said sum of twenty-eight thousand pounds by such sum not exceeding two thousand pounds as shall be specified in such Order :

AND WHEREAS the Minister for Education has recommended that the said sum of twenty-eight thousand pounds should be increased in the manner hereinafter specified :

NOW therefore the Minister for Finance, on the said recommendation of the Minister for Education and in exercise of the powers conferred on the said Minister for Finance by sub-section (2) of section 2 of the University College Galway Act, 1929 (No. 35 of 1929), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the University College Galway (Increase of Grant) Order, 1932.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. In this Order the expression " the annual sum " means the annual sum of twenty-eight thousand pounds payable under subsection (1) of section 2 of the University College Galway Act, 1929 , to University College, Galway.

4. The annual sum payable in the financial year which commenced on the 1st day of April, 1931 (being the financial year current at the date of this Order) is hereby increased by the sum of seven hundred and fifty pounds.

5. The annual sum payable in every financial year subsequent to the said financial year current at the date of this Order is hereby increased by the sum of one thousand five hundred pounds.
