S.I. No. 57/1932 - Minister for Agriculture (Agency) Order, 1932.


WHEREAS it is enacted by Section II of the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924 (No. 16 of 1924), that it shall be lawful for any Minister pursuant to any arrangement or agreement previously authorised by an Order of the Executive Council to exercise or perform any of the duties or public services of any other Minister as agent for such other Minister and without relieving such other Minister of his responsibility for the administration of such public service:

AND WHEREAS, JAMES RYAN, Minister for Agriculture, anticipating that he will be temporarily unable through absence from Saorstát Eireann during the months of July, August and September, 1932, to exercise and perform the duties and public services assigned to him as such Minister, has arranged and agreed with the Minister for Defence that the Minister for Defence shall during the inability aforesaid exercise and perform the duties and public services aforesaid as agent for him the said Minister, and without relieving him of his responsibility for such public services:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the carrying of the said arrangement and agreement into effect should be authorised by the Executive Council:

NOW, the Executive Council of Saorstát Eireann in exercise of the power in this behalf vested in them by the said Section II of the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924 (No. 16 of 1924), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling do hereby order as follows:—

1. The Minister for Defence is hereby authorised to exercise and perform as agent for the Minister for Agriculture, pursuant to the arrangement and agreement aforesaid, any of the duties and public services of the Minister for Agriculture during the inability of that Minister through absence from Saorstát Eireann during the months of July, August, and September, 1932, to exercise and perform such duties and public services.

2. The exercise and performance of the public services aforesaid by the Minister for Defence as such agent pursuant to the said arrangement and agreement shall not relieve the Minister for Agriculture of his responsibility for the administration of those public services.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923) shall apply to theinterpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas passed on or after the 1st day of January, 1924.

4. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Minister for Agriculture (Agency) Order, 1932.
