THE UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE (INSURANCE INDUSTRY SPECIAL SCHEME) AMENDMENT ORDER, 1931.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE.

The Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order made by the Minister for Industry and Commerce under the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920 (10 & 11 Geo. V., c. 30) (a).

(a) This Order having been before both Houses of the Oireachtas for 20 days, in accordance with Section 36 (2) of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, duly came into force.

WHEREAS by the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Order, 1921, made pursuant to Section 18 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, the Insurance Industry Unemployment Insurance Scheme was approved.

AND WHEREAS the provisions of the said Scheme have been amended by the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order, 1924; the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order (No. 2), 1924, and the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order, 1930;

AND WHEREAS application has been made to the Minister for Industry and Commerce, for the further variation and amendment of the provisions of the said Scheme;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Patrick McGilligan, the Minister for Industry and Commerce by virtue of the powers conferred on me by Section 18 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, and in exercise of all other powers enabling me in that behalf do hereby make the following Special Order:—

1. For the purposes of the Insurance Industry Unemployment Insurance Scheme as varied and amended by the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order, 1924; the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order (No. 2), 1924, and the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order, 1930, the expression "benefit year" shall as from the date on which this Order comes into force mean in relation to any person insured under the said scheme the period of twelve months commencing on the date on which that person makes an application for out-of-work benefit next after the date on which this Order comes into force and every subsequent period of twelve months commencing on the date on which that person first makes an application for out-of-work benefit next after the termination of his last preceding benefit year.

Provided that if any person insured under the said Scheme is continuously unemployed at the date on which this Order comes into force the benefit year within the meaning of paragraph 7 (1) added to the Second Schedule to the said Scheme by the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order, 1924, current at that date shall continue in relation to him until the date on which the period of continuous unemployment ceases or until the date on which that benefit year expires whichever date is the earlier.

2. This Order may be cited as the Unemployment Insurance (Insurance Industry Special Scheme) Amendment Order, 1931.
