Disposal of unapplied balances of grants.

8.—(1) Any balance of the grant made under this Act to the council of a county or of an urban district which remains in the hands of such council on the 1st day of April, 1933, and cannot, having regard to the provisions of this Act, be lawfully applied by such council in accordance with this Act shall be applied by such council in like manner as the moneys payable to such council in respect of the agricultural grant for the local financial year beginning on the 1st day of April, 1933, are required by law to be applied.

(2) In this section the expression “the agricultural grant” means the grant referred to in section 48 of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1898, as adapted by or under any subsequent Act.
