THE COUNTY BOARDS OF HEALTH (ASSISTANCE) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1926.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

WHEREAS by Article 6 of the County Boards of Health (Assistance) Order, 1924, it is provided in effect amongst other things that where a board of health and public assistance allows home assistance to any able-bodied person one half at least of such assistance shall be given in articles of food or fuel or in other articles of absolute necessity:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient to vary the said Article in manner hereinafter appearing:

NOW THEREFORE, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by the Poor Relief (Ireland) Acts, 1838 to 1914, the Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Acts, 1923 and 1924, and of all other powers in this behalf enabling him, does hereby order and direct as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the County Boards of Health (Assistance) (Amendment) Order, 1931.

2. Notwithstanding anything contained in Article 6 of the County Boards of Health (Assistance) Order, 1924, a board of health within the meaning of the said Order, shall not be required to give in articles of food or fuel or other articles of absolute necessity one half of any home assistance allowed by them to an able-bodied person who is as a condition of the granting of such assistance required by them to perform a suitable task or work.
