MARRIAGE BENEFIT REGULATIONS, 1930.

Regulations made by the Irish Insurance Commissioners with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, under the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1929.

Dated this 28th day of April, 1930.

The Irish Insurance Commissioners in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1929, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, do hereby, with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, make the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Insurance (Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1930, and shall have effect as from the 21st day of December, 1929.

(2) In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions shall have the respective meanings hereby assigned to them:—

"The Act of 1929" means the National Health Insurance Act, 1929 ;

"Contribution half-year" means any period in respect of which contribution cards may be issued under any Regulations relating to the collection of contributions for the time being in force.

(3) The Interpretation Act, 1889, as modified and adapted by or under the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 (No. 2 of 1922), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Oireachtas.

2.—The amount of the Marriage Benefit payable under Section 15 (3) of the Act of 1929 to a woman who marries after the 20th day of December, 1929, and in respect of whom 52 weekly contributions have been properly paid since the date of her last entry into insurance, shall be the appropriate sum shown in Column (2), (3), (4) or (5) of Part I. or Part II., as the case may be, of the Schedule to these Regulations, regard being had to the duration of her insurance and the number of contributions paid in respect of her.

3.—(1) Where the number of contributions credited in respect of a woman in the last three complete contribution half-years before the date of her marriage (excluding the broken period in the contribution half-year in which she marries) is 70 or less the amount of the marriage benefit which would otherwise be payable to her in accordance with the provisions of the foregoing Article shall be reduced by the amount appearing in Column (2) in Part III. of the Schedule opposite to the group of numbers in Column (1) which comprises the number of contributions credited in the said three complete contribution half-years.

(2) In calculating for the purposes of this Article the number of contributions credited during the last three complete contribution half-years, the calculation shall be made in accordance with Article 3 of the National Health Insurance (Arrears) Regulations, 1921, as amended by Article 4 of the National Health Insurance (Arrears) Amendment Regulations, 1923, provided that, in the case of a woman becoming an insured person after the commencement of that period, contributions shall be deemed to have been paid in respect of the period between the commencement of the three complete contribution half-years aforesaid and the end of the week immediately preceding the date of her entry into insurance.
