WEIGHTS AND MEASURES (STAMPS).

THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES (STAMPS) REGULATIONS, 1928, MADE BY THE MINISTER FOR INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE ON THE FIFTEENTH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1928, PURSUANT TO SECTION 13 of THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ACT, 1928 .

Pursuant to the powers conferred on him by Section 13 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1928 , and all other powers in that behalf enabling him, the Minister for Industry and Commerce hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Stamps) Regulations, 1928.

2. These Regulations shall come into force on the First day of December, 1928.

3. In these Regulations :—

" The Minister " means the Minister for Industry and Commerce ;

" Inspector " means an inspector or ex-officio inspector of weights and measures, and includes a special inspector.

" A licensed bottle factory " is a factory in respect of which a licence has been issued under Section 7 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1928 .

4. Every stamp used for the verification by the Minister of local or other standards, shall be of the following form and design ; the figures therein indicating the year of stamping :—

5. The form and design of the stamp of verification to be used by an inspector shall be as under ; the upper figures therein to correspond to the number of the area to which the inspector is appointed, and the lower figures to indicate the year of verification :—

6. The stamp of verification to be used at a licensed bottle factory shall be as under (the figures indicating the stamp number allotted to the factory) :—

7. The punch to be used for obliteration of stamps shall bear the following design (the figures indicating the inspector's area) :—

8. The material of which stamps or punches are made under these Regulations shall be hard steel, or other suitable metal approved by the Minister.
