STATISTICS ACT, 1926.

OFFICERS OF STATISTICS (APPOINTMENT) ORDER MADE BY THE MINISTER FOR INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE ON THE 29th DAY OF MARCH, 1926, PURSUANT TO SUBSECTION 1 (e) OF SECTION 16 of THE STATISTICS ACT, 1926 .

WHEREAS it is provided by sub-section (1) of section 11 of the Statistics Act, 1926 , that every officer of statistics whose duty or authority as such officer requires or authorises him to do all or any of the things specified in that sub-section under or for the purpose of the Act shall be supplied with an appointment in accordance with the said section appointing him to be an officer of statistics within the meaning and for the purposes of the Act ; and it is further provided by sub-section (2) of section 11 that every such appointment of an officer of statistics shall be in writing in such form as shall be prescribed by regulations made under the Act and shall be signed in the manner directed by that sub-section :

AND WHEREAS it is provided by sub-section (1) (e) of section 16 of the Act that the Minister for Industry and Commerce may by Order prescribe any matter or thing which is referred to in the Act as prescribed or to be prescribed by regulations made under the Act :

NOW I, Patrick McGilligan, the Minister for Industry and Commerce, in pursuance of the powers conferred on me by sub-section (1) (e) of section 16 of the Statistics Act, 1926 , and of all other powers in that behalf enabling me, do hereby order :

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Officers of Statistics (Appointment) Order, 1926.

2. The form of the appointment of an officer of statistics for the purposes of sub-section (1) of section 11 of the Statistics Act, 1926 , shall be that set out in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

...................................................... is hereby appointed to be an officer of statistics within the meaning and for the purposes of the Statistics Act, 1926 .

( Section 14 of the Statistics Act, 1926 , prohibits the disclosure by any officer of statistics of information obtained by him in that capacity except to another officer of statistics.)
